American Stratocaster

American Stratocaster
How much would an American stratocaster appreciate per year?

If i bought an American strat, since it is a famous guitar and all, im sure it would appreciate in value each year, does anybody know the percentage or amount of money it appreciates per year?

Hello! You raise an interesting question, but also one that will have several differing viewpoints! From my perspective, unless you are dealing with a vintage instrument (i.e., 1954 through the early 1970s), a Limited Edition series (Harley-Davidson, Playboy, etc.), a specially-offered Custom Shop model (Signature Series, Tribute Series, Master Salute, etc.), or a guitar signed by a famous artist, you are looking at only keeping pace with inflation. In other words, if you purchase a brand-new Fender American Stratocaster, put it in an environmentally-stable environment and never played it, it would be worth as much as the currently-available equivalent. If you are really interested in buying a guitar as an investment, buy the oldest and best condition vintage instrument you can afford. Like most of us, if you want a really solid quality guitar that will hold up over time, buy a Fender American Stratocaster and play to your hearts content! Best regards, Dana
