What would be the best pickups for my custom Stratocaster?
I’m finally putting together my own custom Fender Strat but I haven’t bought any pickups for it yet because I’m not sure what to get. It might be difficult because I play a lot of different styles. I need pickups that would be good for bluesy clean tones but also have a good hard rock/metal distortion sound. My main influences are Yngwie Malmsteen, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani and Ritchie Blackmore.

Fender Rory Gallagher Signature Stratocaster $4000 Fender Rory Gallagher Signature Stratocaster Fender Custom Shop designers met Donal Gallagher, brother of the late, great Rory Gallagher, in 1997 at Los Angeles International Airport and received a gig bag holding one of the most coveted guitars of all time-Rory’s worn-to-the-wood 1961 Stratocaster guitar. Fender initially built 40 “clones” for the European market, and was subsequently besieged with requests for more. The Rory Gallagher Tribute Stratocaster guitar is an exact replica of that revered instrument, right down to the extremely worn 3-Color Sunburst alder body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. We’ve even included five Sperzel tuners and one Gotoh tuner, and we’ve replaced the 12th-fret dot marker with white plastic instead of the original clay. Fender Custom Shop Ltd – Q2 Limited 1970 Stratocaster Electric guitar Black $3750 The Fender Custom Shop LTD – Q2 Limited 1970 Stratocaster electric guitar is a modern twist on an iconic Fender Strat that evokes an era when Fender changed materials and features, which also affected the music these guitars was used for. The introduction of the three-bolt neck system came in the early 1970s, along with a “micro-tilt” adjustment that allowed users to angle the pitch of the neck to their liking. The Fender Stratocaster’s cast tremolo bridge also debuted around this time, as well as the non-beveled pickup magnets. This guitar has a flatter fingerboard radius and taller 6105 frets for easier string bending. The pickups are hand-wound by Abigail Ybarra, who was hired at Fender in 1956. A Custom Shop Relic finish on the LTD – Q2 1970 Stratocaster simulates the natural wear and tear of years of heavy use. Includes case, strap, cable, and Limited Edition Certificate of Authenticity. |

The 1960 Stratocaster Masterbuilt features a lightweight alder body with a 3-tone sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer finish given a Light Relic treatment—the finish shows minimal natural wear from years of light use, with some body checking on a guitar that otherwise looks like it’s been well-preserved since the ’60s. The body is fitted with a quartersawn maple neck with a luxurious vintage tint, a ’60s C-shape, and a 9.5″ radius dark rosewood fretboard with tall and narrow 6105 jumbo frets.
