Is the Epiphone Les paul a good guitar for playing metal?

Is the Epiphone Les paul a good guitar for playing metal like Metallica, Iron Maiden or System of a Down. And what amp would you recommend for it?

Yes, i have a epiphone standard and i play iron maiden all the time on it. Just you the bridge pickup, My amp is a line 6 75 watt, works pretty good for me, I also got a dunlop wah so i can sound like dave murray
