Gibson Melody Maker

Gibson Melody Maker
How much is my Gibson Melody Maker worth?

I have a 1961 electric solid body Gibson Melody Maker. It has dot fingerboard inlays, an orangey script “Gibson” logo, no binding. Everything on it is original (plate, tuners, dials, etc.), except for the paint. It used to be black/brown, but my grandfather bought it at a yard sale in the 70’s and painted it white. It only has a few minor cosmetic blemishes like chips in the paint, but nothing that couldn’t easily be touched up.

Does anyone know how much it might be worth?

Thanks

Looks like anywhere from $100 on up to about $1,000, depending.

Price guides are useless, so if you want to know what something is really worth (meaning what people are actually paying for it), then check ebay out first.

You’re probably best NOT touching it up if your intent is to sell it. Just disclose that in your ad and let the buyer worry about it. Most people prefer things in unrestored (meaning “original”) condition.
