Martin Backpacker Guitar

i just purchased a Martin Backpacker classical guitar, and i was wondering……?

if i could replace the classical strings with steel strings.

On the CF Martin product page for your classical, it shows the recommended strings. Personally I don’t know what the difference is between the models of backpackers, so I have no idea if the bracing of a classical would stand the stress of steel strings or not. That’s a question you should ask a Martin dealer, or use the contact information on the Martin website to e-mail them with the question.

The only thing I can comment on for sure is, if you use a type of string that is different from the manufacturer recommendation/specification, it could void your warranty if it damages your instrument.

If you just bought this instrument new and aren’t happy with it, call your dealer and make a trade… usually they’re very happy to accomodate you! Martin has a great reputation for customer satisfaction. Classicals don’t seem to have the punch of steel stringed guitars, and I’m assuming this is why you’re asking?

Enjoy your Martin, you lucky dog!!
